What is Physical Therapy? (PT)
Physical Therapy involves the assessment and treatment of movement and function. Physical Therapy helps people of all ages return to normal function after an injury or disease. Physical therapists develop individualized treatment programs designed to prevent injury from occurring or to slow the progression of conditions resulting from injury, disease, and other causes. Physical Therapy is available in all locations.

What is Occupational Therapy? (OT)
Occupational Therapy involves the assessment and treatment of conditions that are mentally, physically, developmentally, or emotionally disabling. Occupational therapists improve patient's ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. They also help them develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills. Occupational Therapists within Southside Physical Therapy work with upper extremity ailments and provide school based therapy for special needs children within our local school systems. Occupational Therapy is available in the Franklin office.

What is Speech Therapy? (ST)
Speech Therapy involves the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of speech, voice, and language disorders. Speech therapists work with people, unable to make speech sounds or who cannot make them clearly. They also work with people, who stutter, have fluency and rhythm problems, inappropriate pitch, or harsh voice and speech quality problems. Speech Therapy is available in the Franklin office.

What should I expect when I come to see you?
Upon your first visit, the therapist will perform an evaluation of the problem area. With your consent and involvement we will determine the best course of treatment for you. We will negotiate any follow-up treatments that may be needed to monitor and/or advance your treatment so you continue to progress toward your goals. Please wear comfortable clothing that will allow access to the body area you wish to address.

How long are sessions?
Usually the initial evaluation will take from an hour to two hours. Follow up appointments can range from thirty minutes to two hours. If you have concerns regarding length of treatment with regards to conflicting with anything else during your daily schedule please discuss with office staff before arriving to your appointment or before your treatment commences.

Do I need to see a physician before coming to you?
If you want your insurance carrier to cover services it will require that you obtain a physician's prescription before seeing a therapist.

Will my insurance company cover my therapy?
Most insurance will pay for therapy, however the amounts paid and number of visits allowed is highly variable and depend on the policies of your particular carrier. Please check your policy or call your carrier if you have questions.

Will my insurance carrier cover Therapy at your clinic?
Insurance companies usually have special contracts with different therapy clinics. Please call us if you have questions regarding contracts with our clinics. Fortunately most insurance carriers are honored within our company.

How much will I owe for my sessions?
Many insurance companies require a co-payment that you are responsible for paying at each visit. Please check your insurance policy or card to determine your Co-pay. If you have a yearly deductible and you have not met the maximum amount, we request that you pay the amount you are responsible for. Payment plans are available and can be discussed at the front office or with the office manager.

What if I can't afford to pay at the sessions?
Payment plans are available. Please ask when you make your appointment and we will provide you with the appropriate information. This can be discussed upon your first visit with the front office or with the office manager at the clinic you are going to.

Who do I contact regarding billing?
Individual office managers for each clinic are responsible for patient billing. Any questions regarding payment or your sent bill should be directed to them.

How do I make an appointment?
Please call the clinic you are planning to attend to schedule your appointment or to check on an appointment scheduled by your physician's office. We strive to schedule patient's appointments to meet their schedules.

Do I have to fill out paperwork to be seen?
Yes, please come 15-30 minutes early to your first appointment to fill out the necessary paperwork that you must fill out as a new patient. If you have been seen before by our office you might again be asked to fill out paperwork on your first visit since you are presenting with a new injury/ailment. We are providing links to the required paperwork so you can complete this before you arrive. Adobe acrobat is provided if you do not have it installed on your computer and you need the program to download and read the files (Download Adobe Acrobat).
